Wright County Attorney Brian Lutes announced that a criminal complaint has been filed in Wright County District Court against David Bruce Delong, born February 22, 1985. Delong is charged with second-degree intentional murder following the death of an adult female co-worker at Advanced Process Technologies in Cokato on November 11, 2025.
“I filed a criminal complaint in Wright County District Court this morning charging David Bruce Delong, DOB: 2/22/1985, with 2nd degree intentional murder for the tragic murder of an adult female that occurred at a business in Cokato on November 11, 2025. The defendant and victim were co-workers at the business. Delong will appear this morning in Wright County District Court at 11:00 a.m. at which time bail and conditions will be set. A copy of the criminal complaint is available with this post. I will evaluate this case for a possible charge of 1st degree premeditated murder which requires convening a grand jury,” Lutes stated.
According to the criminal complaint signed by Deputy Sheriff Kevin Olson and approved by County Attorney Brian Anthony Lutes, law enforcement responded to a call at Advanced Process Technologies early on November 11. The victim was found with severe head trauma and significant blood loss near her workstation. A bloody sledgehammer was located nearby.
Investigation revealed that Delong allegedly struck the victim first while she was standing and then multiple times after she fell to the ground. Surveillance video reportedly shows Delong leaving his workstation, taking a sledgehammer from the victim’s area, and swinging it several times toward where she was found.
Delong allegedly admitted to another employee that he had hit the victim with a hammer and later confessed to law enforcement that he intended to kill her, stating he had planned it for some time.
Judge Geoffrey Tenney determined there was probable cause for arrest or continued detention pending further proceedings. Delong is scheduled to appear in court where bail and release conditions will be addressed.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities consider whether to pursue additional charges requiring grand jury review.
