Wright County Sheriff's Office investigates workplace homicide in Cokato

Around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call at Advanced Process Technologies in Cokato. An adult female was found at her workstation with significant head trauma. Deputies and Cokato Ambulance personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the initial investigation, the woman died as a result of an assault by an adult male coworker using a blunt force object. The coworker, identified as David Bruce Delong, age 40, from Watkins, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office stated: "Around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call from Advanced Process Technologies in the City of Cokato regarding an adult female being found at her workstation with significant head trauma. Deputies arrived on scene along with Cokato Ambulance and attempted life saving measures, however the adult female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The initial investigation indicated that the adult female’s death was due to an assault by an adult male coworker with a blunt force object. The adult male coworker, identified as David Bruce Delong (age 40 of Watkins), was taken into custody on scene without incident by deputies. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate the incident and Delong remains in custody."

Authorities continue to investigate and have not released further details about possible motives or additional circumstances surrounding the case.
