Tom Emmer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 6th district since 2015, expressed his views on various political figures and issues in a series of tweets on May 5, 2025. Emmer, who succeeded Michele Bachmann in Congress and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011, shared his criticisms through social media.

In a tweet posted at 19:40 UTC, Emmer criticized Representative Ilhan Omar by stating that she "never ceases to be an embarrassment for Minnesota."

Later that day, at 22:42 UTC, Emmer directed his criticism towards the Hennepin County Attorney. He remarked, ".@HennepinAtty you were not elected to be a podcast host. You were not elected to be a judicial activist. You were elected to keep Minnesotans safe and you are failing at every level."

In another tweet posted at the same time (22:42 UTC), Emmer accused the Hennepin County Attorney of inappropriate behavior during discussions about Laken Riley’s murder. He wrote, "Radical DA @HennepinAtty began laughing when mentioning Laken Riley’s brutal murder. She then explained her disdain for Democrats who voted for the Laken Riley Act, pushing the absurd claim that the act will make domestic violence victims 'afraid to come forward.'"

Emmer was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. He graduated from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks with a BA in 1984 and earned a JD from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988.
