Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, addressed government shutdown impacts and ongoing political disputes in a series of posts on October 30, 2025.
In the morning, Emmer promoted his media appearance by posting, "Looking forward to joining @RepMcCormick on @Xtra1063 this morning. Tune in!" (October 30, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on the consequences of the federal government shutdown, writing, "SNAP benefits are running out. Flights are being canceled. Over a million federal workers are missing paychecks. All because Democrats in the Senate continue to block our clean, nonpartisan CR. They’re using the American people as political pawns, and it’s getting real." (October 30, 2025).
Emmer continued his criticism with another post: "Democrats are still refusing to reopen the government. And for what? To appease people like Commie Mamdani? Americans are literally struggling to put food on the table, but Democrats are too busy playing politics to do anything about it. It’s disgusting, and it needs to end." (October 30, 2025).
Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
