Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has posted a series of tweets criticizing Senate Democrats over the ongoing government shutdown and related legislative issues.

On November 4, 2025, Emmer wrote, "The Democrat government shutdown is now tied for the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Meanwhile, it’s hardworking Americans who are being forced to pay the price."

Later that day, he stated, "Senate Democrats have now voted 14 TIMES against funding SNAP and WIC and against paying our military and air traffic controllers. They have become total obstructionists, standing for nothing except blocking the America First agenda 77 million Americans voted for a year ago."

In a third post on November 4, Emmer said, "Democrats are causing chaos across America so they can give taxpayer-funded health care to illegal aliens.  It’s insane and it’s WRONG."

Emmer has served in Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his time in Washington, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
