The Central MN Council on Aging has received $100,000 from the Minnesota Council on Foundations to sub-award organizations.
The organization created the MN Recovery Response Fund aimed at serving the needs of elderly adults and caregivers during the COVID-19 crisis.
One hundred percent of the funds will be given to community providers to support coronavirus-related services within the aging community, according to a recent news release.
The funding will provide nutrition, PPEs, volunteers, diversity assurance, virtual services, delivery and medical supplies.
The funds must be utilized before Thursday, Dec. 31. Nonprofit organizations, senior centers, tribal organizations and faith communities are all eligible to apply for the funding.
A petition for proposal was sent across in one broad action to the Council on Aging region. According to the council, in June, it received 48 applications that totaled up to more than $370,000 in applications.
A review team decided how the funds would be given.
