Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, used his social media account on November 7, 2025, to criticize Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and comment on the ongoing government shutdown.

In a post published at 14:12 UTC, Emmer stated: "It’s true. Chuck Schumer is so afraid of his own party revolting against him that he’s shut the whole government down in a sorry attempt to save face with his radical, far-left base. The American people are the real victims of his vanity project."

Later that day at 15:33 UTC, Emmer called for action from Senate Democrats by writing: "We just need five Senate Democrats to grow a spine and reopen the government today."

Emmer also shared details about a personal meeting with former President Donald Trump. At 15:40 UTC he posted: "Jacquie and I had a great lunch with President Trump!"

Tom Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961, Emmer is currently based in Delano and holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law.
