Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, commented on the recent tragedy at Annunciation Catholic School and public safety concerns in a series of posts on September 3, 2025.
In his first statement that day, Emmer addressed the incident at Annunciation Catholic School, writing, "The senseless tragedy at Annunciation Catholic School was carried out by a very broken and deranged individual. He is the unfortunate picture of the current mental health crisis we have in the U.S. that has been exacerbated by extreme Democrat policies. Later, Emmer commented on crime in Minneapolis, stating, "Murderapolis is back. But @POTUS is showing everyone that there is a better way: law and order. https://t.co/RUk7wdBlEn" (September 3, 2025).
He also expressed gratitude for federal officials visiting Minnesota in response to the school tragedy: "Thank you, @VP and @SLOTUS, for being in Minnesota to honor the lives lost at Annunciation last week. https://t.co/KqMewI7xaT" (September 3, 2025).
Emmer has served as Minnesota’s 6th District representative since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before joining Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
