Walter Hudson, a Minnesota state legislator, posted several comments on his Twitter account in late August 2025 addressing local governance, crime policies, and legislative practices.

On August 25, 2025, Hudson questioned the effectiveness of responding to insults instead of arguments. He wrote: "Why anyone cowers to bleating insults will forever mystify me. Bring an argument, or shut up."

The following day, Hudson compared opposition to historic injustices with criticism of contemporary municipal policies. On August 26, he stated: "If a local municipality wanted to re-establish slavery, you'd oppose it. On the same principle, I oppose the passive tyranny of local soft-on-crime policies. I should be able to travel anywhere in the United States with the expectation that any assailant will be incarcerated."

Later on August 26, Hudson addressed legislative procedures in Minnesota by criticizing recent actions by the Democratic majority. He said: "The 'Grand Theft Omnibus' passed by the Democrat trifecta in 2024 has come under legal scrutiny. But how was there ever any question whether you could violate the 'single-subject clause' of the Minnesota constitution? Simple. There were no checks or balances."

Hudson's remarks reference ongoing debates over criminal justice reform and legislative processes in Minnesota. The "single-subject clause" mentioned refers to a provision in many state constitutions—including Minnesota's—that requires legislation to address only one main issue at a time; this is intended to prevent unrelated provisions from being bundled together and passed without proper debate or scrutiny.
