Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from crime policy in Minnesota to national tax legislation.
On July 30, 2025, Emmer posted a link to a report with the message: "Read the full report here: https://t.co/tBv9SVvkc0".
The following day, July 31, 2025, Emmer criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) party's approach to criminal justice. He wrote: "This monster viciously murdered his mom, dad, brother, and sister with an ax. Tim Walz and the DFL’s soft-on-crime policies just let him back onto the streets of Minnesota. Let that sink in. https://t.co/04a0F151sH".
On August 1, 2025, Emmer commented on recent congressional actions regarding taxation and economic policy: "Reminder: Every Democrat in Congress voted for the largest tax increase on Americans in HISTORY. Meanwhile, the @HouseGOP passed the One Big Beautiful Bill to protect American jobs, increase wages, and put American families FIRST."
Emmer has served as a member of Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
