Minnesota State Representative Joe McDonald has extended Easter greetings to his constituents, reflecting on the arrival of spring and recent legislative activity. In a message to residents, McDonald described the positive atmosphere in his district over the past week and expressed appreciation for community engagement.

He stated, "This past week back home in the district has been nothing short of energizing. Whether it was chatting with neighbors, meeting with local leaders, or just enjoying that fresh spring air, it reminded me why I love this community so much."

McDonald emphasized his readiness to return to legislative work at the Capitol. "Now I’m heading back to the Capitol refreshed, refocused, and ready to tackle the challenges ahead. We’ve still got important work to do, and I’m committed to making sure we finish this session on a high note—with solutions that reflect the values and voices of the people we serve," he said.

Addressing Easter’s significance, McDonald wrote about its meaning for him personally as both an Irishman and a Christian. He said, "As we celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my heart is full of gratitude and hope. Easter is more than just a day on the calendar—it is the cornerstone of our faith, the triumph of life over death, and the ultimate reminder of God's endless grace."

He continued: "As an Irishman and a Christian, I hold this season close. It echoes the joy of springtime in the Emerald Isle, where after a long winter, the land begins to bloom again—just as our souls are renewed by the miracle of Easter morning."

"In a world full of uncertainty, the empty tomb stands as a steadfast promise: that light always overcomes darkness, that love wins, and that our Redeemer lives. May that truth fill your heart with peace and joy," McDonald added.

He also noted recent bipartisan progress in passing Minnesota’s 2025-26 Legacy finance and policy committee budget. The budget includes funding from sales tax revenue under Minnesota's Legacy amendment; 33% goes into efforts aimed at protecting water quality through programs such as those supported by the Clean Water Fund. At least 5% is specifically allocated for safeguarding drinking water sources across Minnesota.

"This budget is proof that when we set politics aside and roll up our sleeves, we can get real results. I’m incredibly proud of the thoughtful work from both my Republican and Democrat colleagues. Cheers to clean water, collaboration, and commonsense solutions that benefit us all!" he said.

McDonald also highlighted an event at the Capitol honoring military veterans: "Last Wednesday, we had the incredible honor of celebrating our military heroes here at the Capitol—a day I won’t soon forget." He described meeting veterans as humbling: "Meeting and shaking hands with these brave men and women—hearing their stories, seeing their quiet strength—left me humbled and inspired."

"To every veteran and military family: thank you. Thank you for your courage, your resilience, and your unwavering love for this country. We see you, we honor you, and we are committed to fighting for you—just as you have fought for us," he stated.

McDonald concluded by wishing constituents well during Easter weekend before returning to legislative duties next week.

"As always, thank you for your continued support—it means the world. Let’s keep working together to build something great!"
