Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of tweets on July 23, 2025, addressing public funding for journalism and celebrating recent legislative achievements.

In a tweet published at 15:53 UTC, Emmer criticized the use of taxpayer funds to support media outlets with perceived political leanings. He wrote, "Here are just a few taxpayer-funded headlines from Minnesota Public Radio. We can all agree that “journalism” advocating for a specific political ideology should not be bankrolled by the taxpayer."

Later that day at 18:07 UTC, Emmer shared his experience attending an event at the White House with his wife. He stated, "Jacquie and I had a wonderful time celebrating the One Big Beautiful Bill at the White House yesterday. Thank you for having us, @POTUS. And you’re right—my wife is my greatest asset."

At 21:09 UTC on the same day, Emmer highlighted what he described as key benefits of the "One Big Beautiful Bill." According to his post: "Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill delivers prosperity, safety, and savings for the American people. It provided the largest tax cut for working and middle class Americans and secured our borders, while also achieving the single largest mandatory spending reduction in HISTORY."

Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from both the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
