On July 7, 2025, Emmer addressed a recent attack on border security personnel. He stated "Such a vile attack on the brave men and women defending our homeland must be condemned in the strongest of terms." He expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by law enforcement to neutralize the threat and emphasized solidarity with Border Patrol agents while praying for their safety.
The following day, July 8, 2025, Emmer praised Secretary of Veterans Affairs Collins for his efforts within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In his post, he remarked that ".@SecVetAffairs Collins is doing a phenomenal job ensuring that our veterans get the care and services they deserve." Emmer commended Collins' work in addressing bureaucratic inefficiencies within the VA and thanked him for his service to veterans.
Later that same day, Emmer commented on significant tax legislation known as "The One Big Beautiful Bill." He highlighted its impact by stating "The One Big Beautiful Bill being made law prevents the largest tax increase in HISTORY." According to Emmer, this legislation delivers historic tax cuts benefiting working and middle-class Americans by allowing them more financial freedom to invest and save.
Tom Emmer has been an active member of Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to this role, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961, he now resides in Delano. Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
