Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, shared statements from several organizations on September 19, 2025, supporting a proposed short-term continuing resolution in Congress.

In one post dated September 19, 2025, Emmer quoted AMVETS: “.@AMVETSHQ: ‘Congress must act without delay to pass this measure and ensure the VA can continue delivering lifesaving services to veterans and their families.’”

On the same date, he also relayed a statement from Americans for Prosperity (AFP): “.@AFPhq: ‘This continuing resolution is a necessary step to avoid a harmful and unnecessary government shutdown. While we support this short-term measure, we do so because the alternative—shutting down the government—is worse and would harm all Americans.’”

Additionally, ATA Action’s endorsement was posted: “ATA Action supports and endorses the short-term continuing resolution language put forward by U.S. House leadership that extends Medicare telehealth flexibilities and the Acute Hospital Care at Home program through November 21.”

The statements reflect concern over potential disruptions in government services if Congress fails to pass temporary funding measures. The cited organizations emphasized both the need to maintain vital programs such as those serving veterans and Medicare recipients, as well as avoiding broader negative impacts of a federal shutdown.

Emmer has represented Minnesota’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
