Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has recently criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), addressing issues related to crime, education, and political priorities.
On August 29, 2025, Emmer wrote, "If Tim Walz and his Democrat colleagues were serious about cracking down on violent crime, they would:
- Empower law enforcement
- Hold criminals accountable
- Focus on mental health
But instead, they're too busy implementing their radical agenda."
A day later, on August 30, Emmer posted a brief message referencing former President Donald Trump: "The Trump effect!"
Continuing his criticism of state leadership, Emmer stated on August 31: "Tim Walz and the DFL have repeatedly denied Catholic schools the resources they need to keep their students safe.
Minnesotans deserve better."
Emmer has served as a member of Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
