Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, recently posted a series of messages on his social media account addressing both local celebrations and ongoing community concerns.
On August 26, 2025, Emmer expressed appreciation for St. Cloud native and Stanley Cup champion Nate Schmidt by stating, "Great to have the greatest trophy in sports back in the State of Hockey! Thank you to St. Cloud native and Stanley Cup champion Nate Schmidt for bringing it home to Minnesota. You make our district and entire state proud!".
The following day, August 27, Emmer responded to developing news about an incident at a Minneapolis school: "We are tracking the reports about a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and first responders on the scene."
In another post dated August 28, Emmer commented briefly on an unspecified matter: "Should have been done years ago."
Emmer has served as a congressional representative since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his time in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer earned his BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and later received a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
