Walter Hudson, a Minnesota state representative, posted a series of tweets on August 28, 2025, criticizing recent actions and narratives from the state's Democratic leadership regarding gun control legislation.

In his first tweet at 20:35 UTC, Hudson wrote, "The actual current Minnesota Democrat narrative is, after being in total control of the state for two recent years, empowered to do anything they want, and passing multiple gun control provisions that didn't prevent this tragedy, everything is somehow Republicans' fault."

Later that evening at 20:51 UTC, he continued his critique by stating, "I voted against non-solutions which did nothing to prevent yesterday despite your impotent chest-pounding. It's astounding that you're bragging about your failed policies when our votes against them have just been validated."

In a third tweet at 22:42 UTC, Hudson commented on political ambitions related to these issues: "Absolute delusion. It's astounding that someone considering a run would put this on the record."

Hudson's remarks come after two years during which Minnesota's Democratic Party held unified control of state government and enacted several new gun control measures. The effectiveness of these laws has been subject to debate within the state legislature and among advocacy groups. Hudson has previously positioned himself as an opponent of these measures and often attributes responsibility for public safety outcomes to those in power.
