Walter Hudson, a Minnesota state representative, has recently commented on crime and public safety issues in a series of social media posts. His remarks addressed gun detection proposals at the Minnesota Capitol, former President Donald Trump's stance on crime, and a mass shooting incident at a Minneapolis Catholic school.

On August 26, 2025, Hudson criticized proposed security measures at the state capitol by stating: "The proposed 'solution' of gun detectors at the Minnesota Capitol is a distraction. The real issue? Consequences for wrongdoers, not deterring law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves."

The following day, he posted about national politics and crime policy, writing: "Trump is on the winning side of the crime issue... by a mile." This statement reflects ongoing debates over approaches to crime and public safety during recent election cycles.

Later on August 27, Hudson shared information regarding an active shooter event in Minneapolis: "Live coverage of the developing news regarding a mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school... Shooter dead."

Hudson's comments come amid ongoing discussions in Minnesota about balancing public safety with Second Amendment rights. Proposals to install weapons detectors at government buildings have sparked debate between those seeking increased security and others who argue such measures may infringe upon legal gun owners’ rights or fail to address underlying causes of violence. As incidents involving firearms continue to draw national attention, policymakers remain divided over how best to ensure community safety while respecting constitutional protections.
