Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of messages on social media reflecting on public safety efforts, the anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal, and improvements in veterans’ services.

On August 25, 2025, Emmer praised actions taken by former President Trump to address safety and cleanliness in Washington D.C., writing: "Criminals off the streets, missing children reunited with their families, roadways swept and cleaned… President Trump is making our nation’s capital beautiful and safe again!"

The following day marked four years since the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Emmer commented on this anniversary in a post dated August 26, stating: "On this day four years ago, 13 U.S. service members lost their lives during the Biden administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Our hearts are with their families today as we remember their service, courage, and sacrifice."

Later that same day, Emmer addressed issues faced by families of deceased veterans regarding delays in receiving death certificates. He wrote: "No family should be forced to endure delays in obtaining their late veteran's death certificate. After discussing this issue with @SecVetAffairs, the VA implemented a new policy requiring veterans' death certificates to be signed within two business days. Now, it's time to turn"

Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, he holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
