Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has recently taken to social media to voice criticism of local political figures and infrastructure spending while also praising federal law enforcement efforts.
On August 21, 2025, Emmer posted about Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh: "The more people get to know Omar Fateh and his radical policies, the less popular he becomes… Including within his own state party."
In a post on August 22, 2025, Emmer scrutinized the costs associated with the Blue Line extension project in Minnesota: "$3.2 billion for 13 miles of rail. Construction hasn’t even begun and they’ve already spent $221 million on consultants. The math simply doesn’t work. Continuing to dump taxpayer money into the Blue Line extension project, which has been plagued by crime and low ridership, is"
Later that same day, Emmer commended recent actions in Washington D.C., writing: "This is what REAL leadership looks like. Thank you, @POTUS and our brave law enforcement, for making D.C. safe again."
Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
