Walter Hudson, a public official and commentator, shared his views on film, criminal justice, and university governance in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in August 2025.

On August 12, 2025, Hudson commented on recent films: 'Weapons' is an incredible theatrical experience. Impressed, I went back and watched the director's previous film - 'Barbarian'. Equally amazing.

The following day, he addressed criminal justice reform measures: Restorative circles and thirty "seconds chances" won't fix this. (August 13, 2025).

Later that same day, Hudson criticized the process for appointing regents at the University of Minnesota: The office of regent is supposed to be a sacred public trust to dutifully govern the University of Minnesota, not a reward for campaign donations. The role of university regents has historically been seen as vital to upholding academic standards and ensuring proper governance. Public debate has sometimes focused on concerns about political influence or financial contributions affecting appointments.

Hudson's remarks reflect ongoing discussions about transparency in higher education governance and skepticism toward certain approaches in criminal justice reform.
