Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has used his social media platform to comment on recent federal actions related to cryptocurrency and financial access, as well as state-level leadership.
On August 8, 2025, Emmer posted: "The most pro-crypto @POTUS in history just unlocked an incredible opportunity for American investors by allowing crypto to be held in 401(k)s. This is a monumental shift and will help to cement our place as the crypto capital of the world."
The following day, August 9, he criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz: "Once again, Tim Walz proves why he is one of the worst governors in the country. Being a self-proclaimed knucklehead doesn't excuse the chaos he has caused with his dangerous, far-left agenda."
Later on August 9, Emmer addressed concerns about financial discrimination: "Debanking is completely opposed to the American way of life and our fundamental freedoms. No one should be discriminated against and denied access to financial services due to their political views. Thank you, @POTUS, for another commonsense, freedom-protecting executive order!"
Emmer’s statements come amid ongoing national debates about digital assets regulation and access to financial services. He has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
