Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing Purple Heart Day, political developments, and healthcare policy between August 7 and August 8, 2025.

On August 7, Emmer acknowledged the sacrifices of American servicemembers in a post commemorating Purple Heart Day: "On Purple Heart Day, we honor our brave servicemembers who have been wounded or gave their life to protect our great nation. Thank you for your courage and sacrifice. May we always remember that freedom isn’t free."

Later the same day, Emmer made a brief remark on an unspecified subject: "Good riddance." (August 7).

The following day, he addressed healthcare legislation in Minnesota with a message targeting Democratic claims about Medicaid policy: "Don’t believe the Democrats’ lies. Our One Big Beautiful Bill strengthens Medicaid for Minnesotans. Read more from me, @RepFinstad, @RepPeteStauber, and @RepFischbach https://t.co/WNjqROMjyh" (August 8).

Emmer has served as Minnesota's representative in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
