Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, shared updates on social media this week regarding his official activities and reactions to national events.
On August 5, Emmer posted about an overseas delegation: "This week, I have the honor of leading a delegation of House members on a trip to Israel with our friends from @AIPAC. We just got out of a very productive meeting with Israeli Prime Minister @netanyahu. Our resolve to stand alongside the Jewish community, bring the hostages https://t.co/nmej6dG9Qe".
The following day, August 6, Emmer responded to news from Georgia: "Heartbroken to hear of the horrific shooting at Fort Stewart. Jacquie and I are praying for the wounded soldiers and for the safety of all America’s servicemembers, their families, and staff."
On August 7, he commented on President Biden's administration: "The American people are the real WINNERS of @POTUS’ first 200 days. He's secured the border, prevented the largest tax increase in history, cut wasteful Democrat spending, and so much more. It’s been nothing short of historic, and he’s just getting started."
Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds degrees from both the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
