Rep. Joe McDonald (R–Delano) has been named a 2025 Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities. The recognition comes as a result of his work during the 2025 legislative session in supporting local government and promoting local voices at the Capitol.
According to the League, Rep. McDonald was recognized for being accessible, collaborative, and for his ongoing efforts to advance local decision-making. As a member of the House Elections Finance and Government Operations Committee, he regularly engaged with League staff, listened to city officials' concerns, and advocated for policies that give communities more authority to address their own needs.
The Legislator of Distinction award is approved each year by the League’s Board of Directors. It honors lawmakers who show consistent dedication to strengthening partnerships between state and local governments.
"Rep. McDonald was honored for his accessibility, collaboration, and consistent efforts to promote local decision-making," stated the League.
