Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, addressed a range of issues in a series of tweets on July 22, 2025, including the passing of a state senator and recent developments related to immigration enforcement and media coverage in Minnesota.

In his first post from July 22, Emmer expressed condolences for the death of a fellow legislator: "Incredibly saddened to hear that my friend, Minnesota Senator Bruce Anderson, has passed away.   Bruce was an amazing man, an outstanding legislator, veteran, and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.   Jacquie and I are praying for his wife Ruth and the entire Anderson".

Later that day at 15:43 UTC, Emmer commented on local immigration enforcement trends: "In Minnesota, @ICEgov arrests of illegal aliens have DOUBLED since President Trump took office. While the local, worthless media in my home state tries to spin that as a bad thing, the brave men and women of ICE are restoring safety and security to our communities."

Shortly afterward at 15:57 UTC on July 22, Emmer criticized regional news coverage by stating: "Leave it to a worthless rag like @StarTribune to paint illegal alien sex offenders as victims."

Emmer has been serving in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his current tenure representing Minnesota's 6th District in Washington D.C., he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
