U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer, who represents Minnesota’s 6th district, used his social media platform on July 17, 2025, to highlight several legislative initiatives and comment on state governance.
In a post made at 16:30 UTC, Emmer promoted new legislation aimed at supporting innovation in the digital economy. He stated, "The GENIUS Act is a pro-innovation, pro-freedom, and pro-growth piece of legislation. Let’s send this bill to @POTUS’ desk and secure American financial leadership in the global digital economy."
Later that day at 17:23 UTC, Emmer addressed concerns about privacy and federal oversight in financial matters. He wrote, "We don’t make trade-offs with Americans’ rights. Today, we will pass our Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act to prohibit rogue bureaucrats at the Fed from stripping the American people of their right to financial privacy."
Emmer also criticized Minnesota's state leadership in a tweet posted at 17:54 UTC. He said, "Minnesota has a fraud problem – and it begins and ends with our failed governor, Tim Walz."
Tom Emmer has served in Congress since 2015 after replacing Michele Bachmann as representative for Minnesota’s 6th district. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Emmer was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. He holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and earned his JD from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988.
