Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing state spending, media coverage, and a podcast expansion.
On July 15, 2025, Emmer scrutinized government expenditures related to sanctuary state policies in Minnesota. He wrote: "A closer look at the 430K in taxpayer dollars Tim Walz used to help defend his horrific sanctuary state policies.
-$2,880 for “searches for news or statistics for crimes committed by transgender or nonbinary persons.”

Emmer has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law.
