Tom Emmer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 6th district since 2015, has recently shared his views on social media regarding state and national political figures. Emmer, who succeeded Michele Bachmann in this role, has a background in law and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
On July 9, 2025, Emmer criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for what he described as an "incoherent and evasive congressional testimony." He claimed that "Minnesota taxpayers paid $430K just so Tim Walz could give the most incoherent and evasive congressional testimony of all time." Emmer further stated that even with substantial legal support funded by Minnesotans, Walz struggled to defend his policies.
Later that day, Emmer commented on President Joe Biden's health status. He remarked that "Joe Biden's decline was evident to anyone with eyes," suggesting a cover-up after Biden’s doctor invoked the Fifth Amendment during questioning.
On July 10, 2025, Emmer addressed comments made by Governor Walz comparing ICE officers to the Gestapo. In contrast to these remarks, Emmer highlighted the work being done by ICE officers by stating that "they are hard at work protecting the streets of Minnesota from these dangerous sex offenders."
Emmer has been serving in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, he holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
