Tom Emmer, a U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota's 6th district since 2015, recently shared his thoughts on social media regarding legislative and political matters. Emmer, who succeeded Michele Bachmann in Congress and has a background in law, often uses these platforms to communicate with the public.
On June 7, 2025, Tom Emmer tweeted about the House GOP's passage of the CEASE Act. He stated: "Earlier this week, the @HouseGOP passed @RepBresnahan’s CEASE Act to restore integrity to a key small business loan program, protecting taxpayer dollars in the process. We are committed to making @SBAgov’s programs STRONG for the small business owners they support." The act aims to enhance the integrity of small business loan programs administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
On June 9, 2025, Emmer addressed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's immigration policies in two separate tweets. In his first tweet at 13:43 UTC, he criticized Walz for prioritizing undocumented immigrants over Minnesotans: "Protecting illegals, not Minnesotans: that’s the Walz way. This week, he’ll answer to Congress for his failures."
Later that day at 14:45 UTC, Emmer continued his critique of Governor Walz's record on immigration as Walz prepared to testify before Congress. He wrote: "If Tim Walz thinks he will be able to defend his abysmal immigration record before Congress, then he’s even more of a buffoon than I thought. I only have one thing to say to Timmy as he heads to Washington to testify before @GOPoversight: GOOD LUCK."
Emmer is an alumnus of both the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law and currently resides in Delano.
