Chaska, M.N. – On May 19, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) hosted a roundtable with more than a dozen Minnesota manufacturing leaders to discuss the important role Minnesota’s manufacturers play in the state’s economy. The event was held at McLaughlin Gormley King Company (MGK) in Chaska, and included a tour of their facility.

“Today we celebrated the work and success of Minnesota manufacturers. If we are to remain a global economic superpower, Minnesota and American manufacturing must thrive and not be held back by unnecessary red tape,” Congressman Emmer said.

“It was a pleasure to tour MGK and speak with leaders from across the industry about the work we are doing at the federal level to support our hardworking manufacturers,” Emmer concluded.

Emmer has been a longtime advocate on behalf of Minnesota’s manufacturing industry. In the 117th Congress, he introduced the bipartisan Investing in American Workers Act, which incentivizes businesses to invest in their employees by providing a business-related tax credit for employers who increase their spending on workforce development training.

Congressman Emmer also cosponsored the CHANCE in TECH Act, which passed in the 117th Congress and creates pathways for individuals with little or no experience to enter the tech field. He was also instrumental in the passage of the Lower Energy Costs Act in the 118th Congress, which includes important permitting reforms aimed at boosting American manufacturing. MGK Manufacturing was founded in 1901 and currently produces and sells various aerosols, sprays, and repellents, including the well-known insecticide, Evergreen.

Participants in the roundtable discussion included representatives from the National Association of Manufacturers, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce, MGK, Cardinal Glass Industries, General Mills, Banner Engineering Corp., The Toro Company, Donaldson Company Inc., C.H. Robinson, Ecolab Inc., Stratasys Inc., Schwan’s Company, Winnebago Industries, and Roberts Automatic Products, Inc.
