CITY COUNCIL LISTENING SESSION. Tuesday, August 25 - 7:00pm, The City Council will convene to listen to statements from the public regarding the project. This meeting is not to approve or deny the proposed redevelopment project. The purpose of the listening session is to gather concerns or potential issues so that they may be explored further in the coming weeks before discussions about whether or not to proceed.

The City of Delano is working with two private development groups to complete a proposed redevelopment project of an industrial site within the city. The proposed project would redevelop the existing Granite Works Site to the west of the intersection of River Street (County State Aid Highway 17) and Elm Avenue within Delano, MN. The project would include the demolition and removal of the existing industrial buildings, remediation of existing contamination at the site, and the construction of three new multi-unit apartment buildings with up to 200 total units on the 17.1-acre site. The development will also include connections to existing City streets, below ground and surface parking areas, trails, a park feature, and a regional stormwater treatment basin. The development will connect to existing City utilities (sewer and water). As part of the proposed project the City will also stabilize and improve degraded areas of the banks of the South Fork of the Crow River adjacent to the site. The development will be considered a Planned Unit Development (PUD).

A hard copy of the Draft EAW is available for public review at Delano City Hall, 234 2nd Street North, Delano, Minnesota 55328. The Draft EAW can be viewed online at the City’s website: http://www.delano.mn.us/…/const…/granite-works-redevelopment
