CITY OF MONTICELLO: The City Council authorized staff to move forward with a firework display for the community

Fireworks 1000x667

City Of Monticello issued the following announcement on May 29.

Fireworks Update! The City Council authorized staff to move forward with a firework display for the community. Today we’re excited to announce that the city is teaming up with the Monticello All-Night Grad Party for a spectacular evening of fireworks to congratulate the 2020 Senior Class and celebrate the start of summer!

The fireworks will be on Friday, June 5th at dusk. This year they will be shot off from the field just north of Aldi in Monticello. This area was generously made available by property owner Shawn Weinend, and we’re so grateful for the use of the land!

Thanks to our partnership with the Grad Party, the display will feature larger fireworks that can be seen from a greater area, helping to facilitate social distancing.

In addition, we respectfully ask everyone to follow these guidelines:

-Please follow social distance recommendations and avoid gathering in large groups to watch the fireworks.

-If the fireworks are visible from your home, we encourage you to watch them from there.

-Otherwise, we encourage people to watch from their vehicles or in the vicinity of their immediate family only.

-Some streets surrounding the area where the fireworks are being fired from will be marked with no parking signs. Please watch for the signs and find an alternate place to park and view the display.

Congrats to the graduates and we hope everyone enjoys the fireworks!
