Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, addressed government shutdown concerns and immigration policy in a series of posts on September 30, 2025.
In his first post, Emmer referenced ongoing debates about a potential government shutdown: "For decades, Democrats have warned against the dangers of a government shutdown. They’d like you to forget, but here’s a helpful reminder. House Republicans did our job by passing a clean CR, but will Democrats take their own advice?" (September 30, 2025).
Later that day, Emmer directed criticism at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz regarding state immigration policies: "Hey Governor Walz, accountability for your failed sanctuary state policies is coming." (September 30, 2025).
Emmer concluded with remarks on border security and federal funding: "America’s Border Patrol agents are heroes, not political pawns for Democrats’ political game. Stop the performance, fund the government, and keep America safe." (September 30, 2025).
Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law.
