Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, used his social media platform on October 1, 2025, to criticize Democratic Party priorities and address ongoing government shutdown concerns.
In a post at 15:41 UTC, Emmer stated, "Make no mistake: The Democrats' top priority is not fighting for Americans' health care. Their top priority is picking a fight with President Trump, giving illegals free health care, and scoring political points with their far-left base in the process."
Later that day at 17:01 UTC, he called for action regarding veterans’ services during the government shutdown: "Democrats must stop playing politics with America’s veterans and reopen the government. Read more from @RepBost and me: https://t.co/pPc9n18gaH"
At 18:07 UTC on the same day, Emmer reiterated his criticism of Democratic leadership and referenced recent electoral outcomes: "The American people are sick and tired of the Democrat party’s misplaced priorities. That’s why they elected @POTUS in November and why they’re not interested in a government shutdown over a far-left agenda. I joined @mattgaetz to talk about it: https://t.co/lAFCtVfhcB"
Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961, Emmer resides in Delano and holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
