Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district, posted a series of tweets on September 29, 2025, addressing ongoing discussions in Congress regarding a potential government shutdown.

In one tweet at 21:02 UTC, Emmer stated, "Democrats are actively strategizing a government shutdown to satisfy their far-left base. Republicans, on the other hand, have already voted to keep the government open and working for the American people." Emmer has served in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Michele Bachmann and previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. Emmer earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 1984 and completed his law degree at William Mitchell College of Law in 1988.
