Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing government shutdowns, foreign policy, and international recognition of Palestinian statehood.
On September 22, 2025, Emmer claimed that "Minnesota DFL members want to shut the government down to protect illegal aliens, crime, and fraud—and they’re urging congressional Dems to do the same."
The following day, he voiced support for former President Trump’s foreign policy approach by posting "President Trump is stopping foreign freeloading!" on September 23.
Later that day, Emmer commented on international developments at the United Nations regarding Gaza. He wrote: "While other UN nations dangerously recognize 'Palestinian statehood' of Hamas-ran Gaza, @POTUS is leading with moral clarity: RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW." This statement referenced ongoing debates over recognition of Palestinian statehood and recent events in Gaza.
Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, he was a member of the Minnesota House from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law.
