CITY OF ROCKFORD: Municipal Compost Site – set to close for the season at noon on Saturday, November 15th (Weather Dependent)

City of Rockford issued the following announcement.

City of Rockford residents – the compost site located on County Road 33 (Elm Street) is set to close for the season at noon on Saturday, November 15th (weather dependent).  The municipal compost site is available for the City of Rockford residents.  ONLY compost material originating from within the city limits shall be accepted at the municipal compost site.  There shall be no fee for the City of Rockford residents to use the municipal site, and no charge to pick-up finished material when available.

No Dumping Allowed – items accepted:  grass clippings, leaves and brush no larger than 3″ diameter.

All bags used to transport composting must be removed.

No tree/lawn care business compost material allowed.

Violation(s) of this ordinance may be punishable by a fine not to exceed $700 or by imprisonment.
