Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on November 12, 2025, regarding the Senate amendment to the continuing resolution (CR) and its impact on the ongoing government shutdown.
In his first message at 19:39 UTC, Emmer wrote, "The Senate amendment to our CR is receiving wide stakeholder support, showing that the American people stand with us in ENDING the Democrat government shutdown. Despite the Democrats’ best efforts, the @HouseGOP is going to vote to reopen the government tonight." He followed up one second later by directing followers to further information: "Read statements of support from dozens of stakeholders here: https://t.co/StnVd0Tsbq".
Later that evening at 21:00 UTC, Emmer emphasized the significance of the House vote on the measure: "A 'no' vote on the Senate-passed CR tonight is a vote against the American people. Let’s get it done."
Emmer has served in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, he holds a BA from University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
