Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, used his social media platform on Veterans Day to express gratitude toward military service members and address ongoing government operations.

On November 11, 2025, Emmer posted: "We are the land of the free because of the brave. To all the men and women who have defended our freedoms—thank you for your selfless service."

Later that day, he addressed congressional responsibilities regarding veterans’ benefits amid a government shutdown, stating: "On this Veterans Day, the best way for Congress to honor our nation’s heroes is by reopening the government so they receive uninterrupted access to the services they’re entitled to. The @HouseGOP is ready to get it done."

Continuing on November 12, Emmer commented on partisan dynamics in Congress: "The American people are smarter than the Democrats have given them credit for over the past 43 days. While Democrats continue to play their failed political game, the @HouseGOP will once again vote to reopen the government and advance @POTUS’ America First agenda."

Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011 and holds degrees from both University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961, Emmer currently resides in Delano.
