Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of tweets on November 5 and 6, 2025, criticizing recent political developments in New York City and the Democratic Party.
On November 5, Emmer commented on the election results in New York City: "NYC just elected “Commie Mamdani” – signaling the death of the old Democrat Party. His Marxist agenda will tank the city and the worst part is Democrats will refuse to condemn him because they are scared of their radical base. Pro-terrorist leftists are now the mainstream!"
Later that day, he criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, stating: "Let me be clear: Chuck Schumer is only concerned about keeping his job; he isn’t concerned about the hard-working American people who are impacted by this shutdown. That is why he is cowering to the Mamdani pro-terrorist side of his party. It is time to wake up!"
On November 6, Emmer referenced former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s departure from Congress following Zohran K. Mamdani's rise in New York City politics: "Is it coincidental that @SpeakerPelosi is leaving the day after Marxist @ZohranKMamdani took over NYC? Of course not. She created this chaos and is leaving as soon it got messy! GROSS!"
Emmer has served in Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015 and previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano at age 62. Emmer earned a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 1984 and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988.
