U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer, who represents Minnesota’s 6th district, posted a series of messages on November 5, 2025, addressing recent events in Louisville and ongoing political developments in Washington.
In a message referencing an incident in Kentucky, Emmer wrote on November 5: "Horrific scene in Louisville this evening. Jacquie and I are praying for the crew and all affected by this tragedy."
Later that day, Emmer commented on the federal government shutdown: "Democrats have now caused the longest shutdown in U.S. history. It’s hurting Minnesotans, and it must end. @RepFinstad and I have a message for the Democrats: reopen the government, and let’s get back to work." The post highlights concerns about the impact of the shutdown on Minnesota residents.
Emmer also criticized Democratic leadership in a subsequent post: "My grandfather’s Democrat party is dead. Nothing proves it more than their hostage tactics over the past 36 days and their willingness to elect a communist to run the largest city in America."
Tom Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Michele Bachmann. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana, in 1961, Emmer currently resides in Delano and holds degrees from both the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
