Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has recently used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and criticize state leadership in Minnesota.
On October 31, 2025, Emmer appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box to discuss the impact of the government shutdown. He posted: "Thanks to Andrew and Becky for having me in the @SquawkCNBC studio this morning to discuss day 31 of the Democrats’ government shutdown and its devastating impacts on the American people. Watch below: https://t.co/PzgSCwyc1N" (October 31, 2025).
Later that same day, Emmer criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz regarding alleged financial mismanagement and Medicaid investigations. He wrote: "Let me remind you: @Tim_Walz cost Minnesota over a BILLION dollars in fraud. Now, 14 more Medicaid programs are being investigated. Tim’s incompetence is WASTING your money! https://t.co/0Dc2iURypg" (October 31, 2025).
On November 3, Emmer continued his commentary by posting: "This is what happens when you support radical socialism, want to defund the police, and hate our country! SAD! https://t.co/dgrUvKImoC" (November 3, 2025).
Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
