Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent political events and commemorations.
On October 14, 2025, Emmer shared his participation in a White House ceremony, stating, "It was a privilege to join @POTUS today as he honored Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on what would’ve been Charlie’s 32nd birthday. We will never forget Charlie's incredible impact. Our prayers remain with Erika and the entire Kirk family in their grief."
The following day, Emmer addressed the ongoing government shutdown, writing on October 15, 2025, "The Democrat shutdown costs the American people $400 million per day. It’s time for my colleagues across the aisle to start listening to Americans again and finally end this shutdown."
Later that day, Emmer commented on Democratic Party actions, stating, "Democrats care about one thing and one thing only: appeasing the radical, pro-terrorist wing of their base. And they will inflict the maximum amount of pain on the American people to do it."
Emmer has served in Congress since 2015 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He succeeded Michele Bachmann and represents Minnesota’s 6th district. Emmer, born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
