Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, has recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Democratic leadership and expressing concern for Americans affected by the ongoing government shutdown.

On October 8, 2025, Emmer wrote, "Democrats are picking a political fight at the expense of hardworking Americans."

Later that day, he posted, ".@POTUS is the president of PEACE! Jacquie and I are praying for the swift return of the remaining hostages back to their families."

On October 9, 2025, Emmer addressed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, stating, "Chuck Schumer says 'every day gets better' for Democrats as the shutdown drags on. You know whose lives are not getting better, Chuck? Our troops, TSA agents, air traffic controllers, veterans, federal workers—the list goes on. Quit the games, do your job, pass the clean CR."

Emmer, who succeeded Michele Bachmann in Congress and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011, has been a vocal critic of partisan gridlock in Washington. He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently resides in Delano. Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
