Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district, criticized Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on October 6, 2025, addressing the ongoing government shutdown and its effects.

In a post at 16:18 UTC, Emmer stated, "Democrats have got to stop with the hypocrisy and END the government shutdown."

Later that day at 17:51 UTC, he drew attention to the impact of the shutdown on American families and businesses, writing, "The Democrat shutdown is impacting grocers and families across America. @NationalGrocers puts it plainly: https://t.co/licRLP0XLi"

At 19:34 UTC, Emmer continued his criticism by asserting motives behind the shutdown: "Let’s be clear: Democrats shut down the government purely for political reasons. They would rather pander to their far-left base and illegal aliens than keep the government up and running for the American people."

Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Michele Bachmann. Before his congressional tenure, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961, Emmer currently resides in Delano and holds degrees from both the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and William Mitchell College of Law.
