Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, used his social media platform on October 4, 2025, to urge lawmakers to pass a clean continuing resolution and keep the government open.

In a post made at 12:05 UTC, Emmer stated: "American workers deserve a government that is OPEN and WORKING for them. @TeamsterSOB doesn’t mince words: 'Senators should stop screwing around and pass the House-passed clean, short term funding bill.'"

Later that day at 15:15 UTC, he highlighted concerns from an industry group about the potential impact of a government shutdown: "The American Gas Association warns: '...a failure to pass a clean continuing resolution may have serious implications for vital energy programs for the poorest and most vulnerable Americans.' Protect vulnerable Americans, pass the clean CR, open the government."

Emmer also announced an upcoming media appearance in a third post at 16:50 UTC: "Looking forward to joining @MikeEmanuelFox soon. Tune in around 12:05CT/1:05ET!"

Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
