U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer, who represents Minnesota’s 6th district and has served in Congress since 2015, posted a series of tweets on September 24, 2025, addressing Democratic positions on immigration enforcement and government funding.

In his first post at 14:35 UTC, Emmer wrote: "Hey Ilhan, even NBC deleted their tweet lying about ICE. Maybe you should too."

Later that day at 19:03 UTC, he commented on the ongoing budget negotiations in Washington: "Let’s be truthful on where things stand:

Democrats are telling you they would rather restore taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens than keep the government open for the American people."

At 21:55 UTC, Emmer addressed comments made by fellow Minnesota politicians Tim Walz and Ilhan Omar regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): "When Democrats like Tim Walz and Ilhan Omar call ICE officers the 'modern-day gestapo' and spread lies about their enforcement operations, they fuel hate that leads to violence against these officers.

It is beyond irresponsible, it’s dangerous."

Emmer has represented Minnesota's 6th District since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
