Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, shared several statements on social media on September 19, 2025, focusing on government funding measures and a resolution to honor Charlie Kirk.

In a post referencing the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council), Emmer quoted the organization: “.@SBECouncil: ‘SBE Council strongly supports the CR and urges every U.S. House member to vote in favor of this sensible step to keep the federal government open, allowing for discussions to continue on longer-term funding matters.’” (September 19, 2025).

He also cited Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) regarding veterans’ services: “.@VVAmerica: ‘Congress must ensure no lapse in veterans’ care or benefits. Extending critical authorities for nursing home care, rural access, and community-care capacity is essential to protect our most vulnerable veterans while longer-term solutions advance.’” (September 19, 2025).

Later that day, Emmer commented on voting patterns related to a congressional resolution honoring Charlie Kirk: “On a resolution to honor the life of Charlie Kirk, 58 Democrats voted against, 38 voted present, and 22 didn't vote at all. The Democrat party is clearly so morally bankrupt that many of them have lost all sense of decency. Absolutely shameful.” (September 19, 2025).

Emmer has served as Minnesota’s representative in Congress since replacing Michele Bachmann in 2015. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
