Walter Hudson, a Minnesota state legislator, posted a series of tweets on September 18, 2025, addressing tensions within the Minnesota Legislature and reactions to political discourse. In his posts, Hudson criticized what he described as hostile behavior toward Republicans and commented on perceived disparities in media coverage.

In one tweet from September 18, 2025, Hudson wrote: "Imagine working in the same space with someone who laughs at an allied congresswoman profanely slander and justify the murder of someone who believes what you believe. That's the burden of every Republican in the #mnleg https://t.co/inl3CmSrgL".

Later that evening, Hudson questioned how similar behavior by members of his own party would be received by the public and media. He stated: "When did a GOP legislator laugh with a GOP congresswoman telling mourners of Hortman that they're 'full of shit?' Can you imagine the headlines. ... I once had critical articles written about me for quoting the Declaration of Independence. That's the contrast in coverage. https://t.co/inl3CmSrgL" (September 18, 2025).

Addressing threats related to an upcoming vigil for Kirk, Hudson issued a warning against those considering disruptive actions. He tweeted: "For those making threats against an upcoming Kirk vigil, you follow through at your peril. You will be exposed and pay a price for protesting... a *vigil*. You'll never escape the reputational damage. And, if you act violently, you may not escape period. Eyes will be on." (September 18, 2025).

Hudson's comments reflect ongoing debates about civility and partisanship within state legislatures across the United States. Lawmakers have frequently raised concerns over decorum during legislative sessions and how such incidents are portrayed by news outlets.
